Jedburgh Abbey doesn't have a terribly glamorous past, but it had the honour of receiving the patronage of many a Scottish king, from King David in 1118, Malcolm IV and William I the Lion, Alexander III to David II on the 1300's. Much damage was done at the hands of the English in retaliation for William Wallace's defeat at Stirling in 1297, then by the Earls of Warwick, Hertford and Surrey. The abbey's end took place during the Scottish Reformation in the 1500's. Despite the damage, it is still quite glorious, and a photographer's heaven for obvious reasons.
