Castlerigg Stones, near Kewick (pronounced Kess' ick) is the largest, and most visited, stone circle in England that can still be walked up to and touched. We have gone to the stones two years now, and they draw you back again. The kind of peace you feel at the stones is different than any other I have experienced.

The stones were assembled during the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, about 3200 BC. They say you can't count the number of stones and come up with the same result twice. The official count, as shown on the bronze plaque is 40. Castlerigg was desinged with a solar alignment, so most likely used for solstice celebrations. It is an extremely powerful, but pleasant, place. Another five star stop.
