| Dearly beloved, we are gathered together in the presence
of God, precious family and friends to join together this man and this woman
in holy matrimony.
Marriage, an honorable estate, is entered into not lightly, but reverently and solemnly, with sincerity and sanctity. Marriage is the union of husband and wife, in heart, body and soul, the basis for a stable, loving partnership. Marriage is a sacred promise, the deepest commitment one can make to proclaim their love and dedication. As they were first friends and became lovers, then partners, they now become wedded, bound by their mutual love, respect and devotion. Do you, Anne, take David, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together according to God's ordinance, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, in garlic and in curry, to love and to cherish, forsaking all others, until death do you part? Anne: I do. Do you, David, take Anne, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together according to God's ordinance, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, in garlic and in curry, to love and to cherish, forsaking all others, until death do you part. David: I do. Please join us in prayer: We gather today in your name, to witness the bonds of holy matrimony and to celebrate the declaration of love between David and Anne, to share the joy of their commitment with dear family and friends, those who enrich their lives with love and affection, camaraderie, companionship and true and friendship. We ask, dear Lord, that you bless this union with Your wisdom, guidance and strength, to accompany them on Your path of righteousness, to lift them in times of trial, and rejoice with them in times of jubilation. May everyone present, in moments of uncertainty, remember this day and this purpose, to reclaim faith and fidelity, comfort and calm, to recall the joy and mystery of everlasting gift of love. In Jesus' name, Amen. Ok, who has the rings? Both, as they place rings on fingers: With this ring, I thee wed.
May your marriage grow and prosper as a strong, solid
oak tree for all your years.
May you shelter, and comfort, warm and nourish each other,
To the crowd: Thank you all, for being here. Your presence, because what each of you mean to Anne and David, has made this evening and this ceremony as special as your friendships. As David and Anne have consented together in holy matrimony before God and this company, by the power vested in me by the WWW, I now pronounce them man and wife. Written by Anne Stevens |
